First off the month of February is kicking my ass! Night meetings for 7 of 10 work days in a row, plus day meetings plus a lot of meal planning for meetings, I'm exhausted.
But back to this weekend. Back in January at our local Pheasants' Forever banquet, I won an overnight stay and a nice gift card to a pretty nice hotel and restaurant in the closest city( which around here is about 20K population). I, of course, am impatient and decided we would use it for Valentine's Day. I imagined shopping a little, looking at rings and then drinking and dancing, while knowing well and good Levi hates to dance.
It didn't quite turn out like that, but it was very fun! We didn't get there until about 6 PM because Levi had been spraying all day. I love that he's such a hard worker, but it clearly interfered with my imagined plans from above. But after checking in we actually got to go ring shopping! I was so nervous. I am horrible with describing what I like in most things, jewelry was going to be hard because I know nothing. Good thing is I learned a lot of cuts and carats and clarity and you know placement of the wedding band. For those of you who are naive like me, the wedding band goes on the inside of the engagement ring ( if you're getting a set). I found a couple I liked, one of which Levi didn't peg me for liking at first. But we didn't leave with one. But I certainly was giddy about the thought. I mean its one step closer to officially being with him for the rest of our lives! And I learned my finger is a 5 1/4. That's definitely the tiniest size of anything I wear. Haha.
We then went back and had dinner. We both had steaks and it was so nice to just enjoy pretty much anything we wanted on the menu. i can't tell you how excited I was to win this trip because I seriously never win anything! It was also so nice to have some time to ourselves in an atmosphere outside our regular routines! I'm so blessed to have someone who constantly makes me laugh and just gets me!
The best part of all was getting to sleep in this morning without Miss Charley waking us up between 530 and 6! We then went and had lunch with our friends Sean and Kelsey and their son, Taesen, who is Levi's godson! We don't live that far apart but never get to hang out so it was nice to catch up!
I need to get on here and blog about my Chicago trip! It was amazing and you know a month ago! But it will get done! ;)
Did you do anything fun this weekend? Am I the only one who thinks (daydreams) incessantly about getting engaged?

and YES I want to hear about your Chicago trip! Although I know that the more pictures and events, the more time-intensive it is to blog. meh.
